Marathon Pipe Line LLC (MPL) safely transports and stores crude oil, refined products, and natural gas throughout the continental United States and Alaska. We continuously meet or exceed state and federal regulatory requirements. By following our Integrity Management protocol, using computer monitoring 24 hours a day in our Operations Centers, and conducting ongoing Emergency Preparedness and Response training, we dedicate ourselves to the safety of the public and the environment on a daily basis.

Storage Tanks
We operate hundreds of above-ground crude oil and refined product storage tanks. These tanks are used to store products to meet customer demand by ensuring enough petroleum liquids are available to maintain continuous flow in the pipelines.
Storage Caverns

Marine Facilities
We operate one marine facility on the Mississippi River and three marine terminals in Los Angeles (LA). The Wood River, Illinois, facility has barge loading and unloading capabilities. Crude oil at this facility is barged to the Gulf Coast for use in refinery production. The LA marine terminals supply crude oil, refined products, renewable diesel, and other intermediate products to the southern California region. Two of these three marine terminals are also equipped to load products for distribution to domestic and international customers.
