Capline Pipeline
As the energy landscape continues to evolve, the Capline Pipeline is ready for the next iteration of crude oil movements in North America.
Connecting the Midwest to Louisiana
Capline has a maximum potential capacity to move over 800,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
Capline's History
Commissioned in 1968, the Capline Pipeline has been a critical part of America's energy infrastructure and is one of the nation's largest crude oil pipelines. Owned by Capline Pipeline Company LLC, the pipeline system was originally constructed to transport crude oil produced in the Gulf of Mexico to the Midwest. Capline became the link between the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP) and the Midwest, enabling large volumes of imported crude oil to flow north.

Supporting Regional Energy Demands
Through the Capline Reversal project, the pipeline system now transports crude oil from the Midwest into South Louisiana. Southbound service has opened up opportunities to secure additional energy supplies from Canada.
Capline Reversal Project
The reversal of the Capline Pipeline was completed in 2021, with an origin point in Patoka, Illinois, to key destinations in the St. James, Louisiana, market hub, including Baton Rouge, Garyville, and Norco.
Capline currently operates with a light-equivalent capacity of 417,000 barrels per day (bpd) and has immediate availability to accommodate additional volumes. Subject to sufficient shipper interest, the pipeline could be expanded to more than 800,000 bpd of light-equivalent capacity. Capline is actively soliciting shipper interest for both existing and potential expanded capacity. If you are interested in securing shipping space on this pipeline, please refer to the Business Development contact.
