MPL Mid-South Area Brings Energy to Life
Marathon Pipeline Mid-South area partnered with Kids Energy USA to host an event on March 23, 2018, at Byhalia Elementary School in Byhalia, Mississippi. Kids Energy is a live action show that promotes pipeline safety and 8-1-1 Call Before You Dig to schools across the United States using colorful characters Burnie, the natural gas flame, and Earl, the oil drop. More than 800 students and faculty attended this event and received Marathon Petroleum Fuels our Life bags, each of which contained an 8-1-1 fidget spinner and shovel pencil, an Engaged in Energy information card, a Burnie and Earl coloring book and Marathon color-changing cups. Debbie Roberts, advanced administrative assistant for the Mid-South area, said “I think the presentation definitely taught the children the importance of Calling 8-1-1 Before you Dig.” Also from the Mid-South area, John Cochran, mechanical technician, Jamie Payne, administrative assistant and Sally Arnet, MPL-damage prevention public outreach specialist, helped pass out the bags and cups to the students.
