Cornerstone Pipeline & Utica Build-Out Projects
Notice of Non-Binding Open Season
August 1- September 15, 2014
Marathon Pipe Line LLC (MPL) and Ohio River Pipe Line LLC (ORPL), both subsidiaries of MPLX LP, are developing a planned 50-mile Cornerstone Pipeline to transport condensate from Harrison County, Ohio to Marathon Petroleum Company LP’s (MPC) refinery in Canton, Ohio. The pipeline’s route will allow it to connect to various Utica Shale condensate and fractionation facilities. Other Utica build-out projects, including new construction and utilization of existing pipelines, are potential options to supplement the Cornerstone Pipeline providing connectivity to other markets for multiple products.
A two-phase open season will be instituted for these projects. Phase One, a non-binding open season, will begin on August 1, 2014 in order to ascertain potential interest in each of the three options listed below which each have different potentials to reach refining, processing and blending markets in the Midwest. The final decision on the size and design of the Cornerstone Pipeline will depend on shipper volume commitments and product types to potential destinations. After determining the level of interest in each option, Phase Two, a binding open season will be held at a later date.
“The Cornerstone Pipeline and associated Utica build-out projects will allow MPLX LP to provide transportation solutions from the Utica Shale to a wide range of markets,” says Pamela Beall, MPLX LP president. “This open season will allow us to evaluate multiple pipeline options and leverage existing pipelines to meet the needs of various producers and end users.”
